The team logo for the Mumbai Indians has the Sudarshan Chakra with the team's name engraved in it.The team's colour - blue - is the same as that of the Indian national side.

The Mumbai Indians have two home grounds, the Wankhede Stadium and the Dr. D.Y. Patil Sports Academy. Mumbai Indians may have found a brand ambassador in Hrithik Roshan. At least that's the speculation so far and close friends of the actor also confirm that Roshan will soon be shooting for an ad campaign and even an album - the music for which has been composed by Anu Malik - for Mumbai Indians.

Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) purchased the rights for the Mumbai franchise of Indian Premier league for a total of $111.9 million during the auction on January 24, 2008. The RIL bid has made the Mumbai Indians the most expensive franchise in IPL, and hence won the right to hold the semi-finals and the final in Mumbai. The team was unveiled on the 17th of April, 2008 in Mumbai.
