The IPL has found a place high up on another list of innovative companies. In a study conducted by the business magazine Fast Company, the Indian Premier League has been placed on the second spot of the world’s most innovative sports companies of 2010. It occupies the 22nd spot on the overall list across industries. All this in just two seasons spearheaded by Chairman and Commissioner Lalit Modi.
Fast Company is a full-colour business magazine that releases 10 issues per year and reports on topics including innovation, digital media, technology, and has a wide circulation. Fast Company's current editor is Bob Safian, a veteran of Fortune and Smart Money.
According to the study, the IPL is expected to generate revenue of nearly $2 billion over its first decade, including proceeds from TV rights ($918 million), promotion ($108 million), and franchises ($724 million). Season 2010 offers fans a whole new range of innovations like online broadcast on YouTube, 3D screening of the big matches in cinema halls, special IPL editions of TV shows, post match parties and fashion shows, etc. Spectators are in for an incredible live experience as the IPL offers a range of new hospitality services ranging from the comfortable to the luxurious.
